The Original Penas
Webmaster Elfie
Hi! I am Elfida Pena. I grew up in Barstow, Texas, with the rest of the Penas. Population in Barstow then was about 604. I went to Barstow Elementary. There were only 15 kids in my grade. Mrs. Jensen was the principle! The school is still there but is no longer used. My best friends in school were Patsy Avila and Leticia Contreras. I would love to hear from them again. If anyone know their e-mail address please send it to me. I grew up with two brothers and five sisters. Pecos which is six miles down the road was the big town and a special place to visit on the weekends.
Me in Lubbock, TX, July 4, 2003.
I lived in Barstow until 1977 when I moved to Austin, Tx. for a short while. That same year I went to college at UTEP, met my husband and got married. We moved to San Antonio and lived there 10 years. In 1989 my husband joined the Waco Police Dept. and we moved to Waco, Tx. I have two sons, Michael and Carlos, and loved watching them play soccer. Both sons joined the Marine Corps right out of High School. I was a real Soccer Mom! Ask me anything about soccer!
I now have a two year old granddaughter, Isabelle Almaguer, who is adorable. DON'T FORGET TO VISIT HER PAGES. In two more years she will be playing soccer! I work at the University High School library. I am the assistant librarian and love to read. Welcome to my Family Site! I am also a member of the Waco Police Dept. Citizens Alumni Association.
